The Swimming Contest” ends with the word “losers.” What do you think the author means for readers to understand was lost

I think that what the author means for the readers to understand is that no one really won. The narrator and Abdul-Karim didn't get to have a rematch of the swimming contest and Abdul-Karim may have been the winner, but he died. "life was lost." He died an innocent man, and kept the information needed to help the Arabs.

The answer above (by D.udeM.eetsT.houghts), while decent, is not complete. It will also result in a zero on your Unit 2 Test if you copy it from this website. It's better to ask your teacher if you have questions, not use outside resources.
