HELP AND YOU GET A MEDAL!!! Picture Attached! What is the value of b in the triangle shown below? –4 in. 4 in. ±4 in. There is no solution.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

here

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

You can solve this atleast, Use the area formula, Area= 0.5 * b *h 24 = 0.5* b*3b Now, solve for b.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4

OpenStudy (agreene):

geometry undefined, im going to assume this is projected hyperbolic geometry, and say that because phi is not defined this is impossible to solve.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does anyone else agree with the above statement ^

OpenStudy (agreene):

im sure they don't... i cant imagine you're doing anything but Euclidian Planar Geometry, so what saifoo and thangiee said are accurate.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it is 4? i'm sorry if what your saying is simple i am very horrible at math

OpenStudy (agreene):

its 4. if you solve what saifoo said, you'll find 4 and -4 to be possible answers, but since area cant be negative, it must be 4
