OpenStudy (cwrw238):

i dont understand what you mean can you give me an example?

yah \[88x ^{5}y ^{4}\div-22x ^{2}y ^{3}\]

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

lets divide numbers first 88 / -22 = -4 x^5 / x^2 = x^(5-2) = x^3 the powers are subtracted y^4 / y^3 = y^(4-3) = y so the quotient is -4x^3y
