Any help appreciated!! thanks =] Discuss the pros and cons surrounding the use of immunizations for mumps, measles etc. Why are some vaccines given in several doses, annually, once in a life time or boostered ? What is meant by a side effect?

OpenStudy (blues):

Pros would be that people who have been vaccinated are less likely to get sick themselves (which obviously good for them) and are less likely transmit the disease to other people (which is good for everyone else). Cons would be that occasionally people have allergic reactions to vaccinations which can range from a nuisance (sore arm after flu shot) to deadly (anapylatic shock). These are a type of side effect, which is 'any unexpected or inadvertent effect of a drug.' Dosing differences have to do with many things, cheif among them the immulogic reaction of the host to the specific compounds in them....
