Perform the indicated operation & simplify. (9/x-3) + (2x/x+1) Please show work!!! Thanks:)
is it 9/(x-3) or (9/x)-3??
9/(x-3) Sorry it wasn't clear..
9 2x -------- + ---------- x-3 x+1 Do I have it correct including all the signs?
that is correct.
The LCD is (x-3)(x+1) 9(x+1) 2x(x-3) -------- + -------- (x+1)(x-3) (x+1)(x-3) 9x+9+2x^2-6x -------------- (x+1)(x-3) 2x^2+3x+9 ---------- (x+1)(x-3) I thought that some of it would cancel but no, that is why I made sure I had it copies correctly you could write the denominator as x^2 - 2x -3 but that really doesn't simplify it any further. The numerator is prime and does not factor.
\[2x ^{2}+3x+9\over(x+1)(x-3)\] is an answer
Yes thank you so much. Turns out that i made a simple mistake, i forgot an x. Thanks! :D
Glad you figured it out.
