Intracellular fluid compartments & Extracellular fluid compartments: Im not completely sure, but considering the liquid volume drops on the extracellular, a osmos is created and the liquid wants to leave the cells. This can be quite dangerous for the kidneys since their entire function is based on osmotic preasure, if the hydrostatic osmotic preasure which is normally 55mmh drops to far. you'll soon experiance severe kidney complication. Aswell as the increased workload on the heart and lungs, due to the decreased volume of blood, the heart needs to beat more rapidly. I can't generalize it, but i hope my examples helped. I believe you'd find a great deal of information on symptoms all over the net if you'd search on it. Life threatning symptoms includes: sunken eyes, inability to sweat, delirium, unconsciousness, swelling of the tongue. Treatment: Rapid oral rehydration with a "Oral Rehydration Solutions" if patient is concious and doesn't vomit, if not administrate IV fluid to restabalize the liquid balance. Shouldn't require more than that, if dehydration occures eventhou intake of water is adequate consider administerating anti-diuretic and examining the kidneys would be a my first course of action.
