Marla drives her car to school each day. If it takes her 12 minutes to drive one way, how many hours a week does Marla spend driving? (Express the answer in decimal form.)

OpenStudy (istim):

1 hour is 60min.

OpenStudy (istim):

So, if it's less than an hour, but we're looking for it in hours, that must mean we divide it, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm guessing so, these are ALS's for school and i dont understand them..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 hours?

OpenStudy (istim):

Ok. We know that in a metre there are 100cm. 56cm is 0.56m. But it's a lil harder here cause hours is 60, not 100, min.

OpenStudy (istim):

IT can't be two hours, cause 12 min is most definitely not more than an hour.

OpenStudy (istim):

But to the metres; how did I get 0.56m? Well, I divided 56cm by 100cm.

OpenStudy (istim):

Remind you that 100cm is 1m.

OpenStudy (istim):

So, for this situation you take your current value that you have, 12min, and divide it by 1 hour, or 60min.

OpenStudy (istim):

Thus, you get 12/60. Sorry that took so long. I just want to make sure you get this stuff properly.

thanks for helping!

OpenStudy (istim):

Do you understand???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yess
