In 1920, the record for a certain race was 46.3 sec. in 1960, it was 45.5 sec. Let R(t)= the record in the race and t= the number of years since 1920. a) find a linear function that fits the data b)use the function in (a) to predict the record in 2003 and in 2006. c) find the year when the record will be 45.63 sec. PLEASE HELP

We will find the slope with the info given.

ok

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

So, we have. (1920, 46.3) and (1960, 45.5) Now find the equation of the line. can u solve now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i get m=0.8/? I dont know how to get the bottom #

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok never mind i get that part i just don't know how to get the years

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

R(t) = -0.02t + 84.7

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Since "t" are the number of years from 2003, so (2003 - 1920) Whatever answer you get insert it in the equation.

ok thanks so so much
