You want to prove triangle BAD is congruent to triangle CDA. Then you can get the diagonals of the square congruent by corresponding sides of congruent triangles.

1. AB = CB Def of Square (as you put) 2. <BAD is congruent to < CDA --- Def of Square 3. segment AD is congruent to segment AD -- Reflexive Property 4. Triangle BAD is congruent to Triangle CDA -- SAS Postulate (LAL) 5. Segment BD is congruent to Segment AC -- Corresponding sides of congruent triangles are congruent
