Dumbest question ever: how do I download Python to my comp? I haven't been able to find the handout that is referred to in the assignment sheet.

If you have a mac it's available through your terminal already, but otherwise use google.

You can find the "Getting started with Python and IDLE" pdf under the "Assignments" section. If this is your question.

Awesome! Juleswx, that is something i really needed and i simply didn't see it. I just took a guess as to which one i needed to download, since I didn't have a clue what any of the different ones mean...

I'm right there with you! :) Upon opening that pdf, there are a few links. I chose the Windows link and downloaded that. I've just started today. I played around with it and solved assignment 0....through reading a lot of the readings!!! I don't yet know how to make a file that I can create and run later...soooo....if you find that out, let me know! :)

What I just found is a program call "Notepad2" that worked really well for me. I found it from the Python website's wiki. Saving that file as shown on the Python WikiBook (different site) worked for me. The biggest pain was trying to find the "Run" function on my laptop! LOL, found it eventually. I was able to type up the lines of code I worked out with the IDLE, save them, run the file, and open the file again thru NotePad2 to copy and paste the lines. Today is my very first day too!
