I'm taking advanced functions and calculus next year for a full year (my high school is a self-paced school -- essentially similar to many universities). Can anyone give me pointers on what to expect? What to do to get good grades? I'm getting a tutor next year (hopefully), and I'm hoping I'll get enough help. Also, I'm currently getting low 70s (I know, terrible :( ) but I really need these courses. Any advice? Tips? Help!
study study study
I get what you mean... Honestly it takes me four days to practice, practice and practice solving questions to get at least an 80! Can you believe that? While others can just study for a day and get 90s+? Yesterday I just had my first ever 81 on a unit test that took me a long time to practice. D; I usually get 75s and below or get 80s IF I ask my teacher if i can take a retest.
what i sometimes do to try to understand something is for each quiz that i complete, i will take the ones i missed and try again and again until i get it right, this will help with your testing scores and bolster your math bases for those courses and beyond
what do you study
try to stay 1 section ahead of your course material, that way when you take notes you can write down the key points of what you don't fully understand and ask questions
What do you mean what do I study? & my school don't have teachers that talk in front of the class every day,-- we get a learning guide/package where we learn what we're suppose to learn and assignments are given on that package too. But for Math, and some courses like English, Chem, Physics and Bio-- there are times when teachers will hold lectures to help students learn more. Except for Math there are always lectures for every unit.
what i mean by what you study is something that will vary for everybody, i am asking how do you learn best... in example i generally learn best by seeing it, or by writing the same thing over and over again(i usually do this for def. and such). make an appointment with your professor and see what he/she says, that can only help to see what they say. and honestly some people are just have that ability to study for only a couple of hours and make an A on the test that you studied for like the entire week.
Yeah that's how I learn too! I have to keep redoing it until I get it and see it! Yeah, I get so jealous for those people... no lie. But thank you for the advice!! :)
no prob... anytime
