Solve for x: http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/ee397/motoshifter/125shifter%20-%20Open%20Study/2-29/2.png Thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

solve the qudratic 5x^2-20x-5=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x will have two solutions

OpenStudy (radar):

Were you able to get it to a quadratic form?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5x^2-20x-5=0 is in the quadratic form, I need to factor 20x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just divide through by 5,and then solve the qudratic x^2-4x-1=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ans==>x=2-root5 x=2+root5

OpenStudy (radar):

Take the left part (left of the equal sign) and add using the LCD of 5x 2x + 3 x+5 ------- = ----- now cross multiply 5x 10 20x + 30 = 5x^2 +25x Consolidate \[5x ^{2}+5x-30=0\] Divide thru by 5 getting \[x ^{2}+x-6=0\] Do you know how to solve the quadratic?

OpenStudy (radar):

Hint, it factors easily. Good luck

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry bro resolved the problem, turned out to be 5x^2+5x-30=0 then divide through by 5 to get it in radar's form....radar is right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ans x=-3 x= 2
