\[m= (y _{1}-y _{2})/(x _{1}-x _{2})\] where x1 and x2 are x values and y1 and y2 are y values. Just make sure y1 and x1 are from the same point and x2 and y2 are from the same point

This means the line has an undefined slope
(-1, -3) and (-1, -5) +1+3 +1+3 ------- ------ 0,0 0,-2 ; slope = y/x: -2/0
