Two interesting functions were discussed in this lesson: the hyperbolic sine and cosine functions, cosh x and sinh x (pronounced cosh and sinch). Show how they are derived from the e^x function, and show also how their Taylor Polynomials are developed. The cosh function, in particular, is extremely common. Chances are you have seen many examples of the cosh function already today. A very common curve is described by y = cosh x. What is the name of this curve? What famous landmark uses this shape? Why do engineers like the cosh function so much?
