assume that the pillars are cylindrical..you're looking for the lateral surface area correct?

to get the lateral surface area, you use the formula LSA = 2rh(pi) where r is radius h is height

substitute the values...

h = 10
d = 1 so r =1/2

so LSA = 2 (1/2)(10)(3.14)

LSA = 10(3.14) 

LSA = 31.4 sq ft :D
