why does a steam iron do a better job at ironing clothes than a regular iron?
While using the older dry irons, one had to sprinkle water on the clothes by hand before using the iron. When the hot dry iron was placed on the wet cloth, steam was generated which loosened the fibers of the cloth which were then straightened by the flat hot surface of the iron. With the steam irons, the water is heated inside the iron and is sprayed out as steam. The steam loosens the individual fibers of the clothes quite effectively, and the pressing action smooths out wrinkles. Steam irons are better because they sprinkle out hot steam which loosens the fibers more effectively and the steam then quickly evaporates as it is already quite hot and needs a bit of more heat to evaporate.
Ya its correct and to be more precise, while using dry iron we'll pour water by hand and it'll be like drops in the shirt and there won't be uniformity in the water and dry area. While using steam iron, it'll uniformly makes a water layer and makes the fibres loosening uniformly. So the ironing will be perfect.
