can you help me with this question please Mark and Nancy are making punch for a party and are using two types of juice: pineapple and papaya. The total number of quarts must be more than 9 but less than 15. They should use at least 4 quarts of each type. We want to find out how many quarts of each juice they should buy. List any 3 ordered pair solutions for the system of equations which represent this problem.
did you try?
yes i did a different problem with the same problem but i don't get this one
are there any choices to this question?
no you have to write it that is why i was asking you guyes if you could help me because i don't get this question
the system of equations so, you need two variables. One stands for the amount of pineapple, the other for the amount of papaya. So pick to letters, and label them.
*two letters
so like X and Y
yes, but label them so we know which is pineapple
X=pineapple Y= papaya
now we need to translate They should use at least 4 quarts of each type. into equations. I'll do one, you can do the other: amount of pineapple: X≥4 (at least means 4 or more)
ok i am confused do i just write Y>5
You are getting ahead of yourself. Just try to interpret what this sentence means: They should use at least 4 quarts of each type.
ok so like you said it means X≥4
what about the papaya?
ok so the it would be 5,9 because pineapple is 4,9
What I want you to write is Y≥4 in other words at least 4 quarts of each type means X≥4 and Y≥4
Now let's interpret total number of quarts must be more than 9
ok i get that
can you write the equation for total number of quarts must be more than 9
Here is a graph of where all the pairs are.
