The slope is the coefficient in front of the x (since it says it's in slope-intercept form) and to check if (-2, 3) is on the line substitute -2 for x and see if it checks out: \[ y=-\frac{5}{4}x+\frac{1}{2}=-\frac{5}{4}*(-2)+\frac{1}{2}=\frac{10}{4}+\frac{1}{2}=\frac{5}{2}+\frac{1}{2}=\frac{6}{2}=3 \]
