difference between character and personality

"Character", I often think of as attitude. But it can also be seen as a synonym of "personality." According to the dictionary, "character" refers to "the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual"; whereas, "personality" refers to " the combination of characteristics or qualities that form an individual's distinctive character."
