4km/60min in 54min sparrow flies 4*54/60 = 3.6km 3.6km is the distance covered for going and coming back so his friend live 1.8km away
distance travelled in 60 min = 4000 m distance travelled in 1 min = 4000m/60 distance travelled in 54 min = (4000 * 54)/60 distance travlled one way = (4000 * 54)/60*2 = 1800 m = 1.8 km
my text gives the answer 2km
so the friend lives 1.8 km away
it is rounded off to the nearest km...
