Which statement is true about the solid?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is a regular polyhedron as the vertex meets the base at right angles. It is a regular polyhedron as all its faces are the same type of polygons. It is a non-regular polyhedron as its vertex angle measures less than 90°. It is a non-regular polyhedron as some of its faces have different shapes and length of sides.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I thought it was regular but none of the descriptions fit

OpenStudy (phi):

Unless the picture is labeled it's bad to assume the faces are equal. But by eyeball, they look the same. So, because the other choices don't fit all its faces are the same type of polygons.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, which one would you chose

OpenStudy (phi):

It's a lousy question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes it is.. they do that a lot on these assignments. Either it will be harder than what was taught or completely different

OpenStudy (phi):

OK, a google search shows it is not a regular polyhedron. Regular polyhedron have identical faces. The base of this is different from the sides.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

gotcha

Directrix (directrix):

It is a non-regular polyhedron as some of its faces have different shapes and length of sides. There are only 5 regular polyhedra in existence. They are known as the Platonic solids. One of them, the tetrahedron is a pyramid. Cool reading about them: http://www.mathsisfun.com/platonic_solids.html
