What is the volume of foam, in cubic feet, required to make the ramp?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (ash2326):

Volume of foam = volume of the solid. Voulme= Area of the triangle * width @Qwerty90 answer me What's the area of the right triangle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a=1/2bh so a=1/2 4 (1.5) 6?

OpenStudy (dape):

It's just half the volume of the corresponding parallelepiped, which is obtained by multiplying all sides: \[ V = \frac{1.5*4*1.8}{2} ft^3 = 5.2 ft^3 \]

OpenStudy (dape):

It's supposed to be 5.4 ft^3, sorry.

OpenStudy (ash2326):

Yeah , you're right \[A=\frac{1}{2} \times 4\times 1.5=3 ft^2\] \[Volume= 3 ft^2 \times 1.8= 5.4 ft^3\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait... you see I am solving it the way it was in the lesson. I thought since it was a triangle i would use its formula but I guess I could have just multiplied together and got that answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But I do understand how you got the answer.. thank you!
