OpenStudy (anonymous):

is trigonometry important in real analysis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not terribly.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes to the point where it becomes second nature....

OpenStudy (amistre64):

trig is so benign and useless that they had to invent ways to make it appear valid :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

a couple of rope stretchers in egypt were feeling particularly lazy one day and decided theyd come up with a new way to find out how tall the pyramids were

OpenStudy (amistre64):

they applied for a grant from the pharoh financial and loans and tada!! trig was borned anew

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know but trig is very handy in Physics...specially when you are dealing with applied forces.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure, but this is analysis not physics.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

see someone invented applied forces :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops didn't read it right....anyways we learn it for a reason. It's useful somewhere.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

amistre64: so it is not? hmmm

OpenStudy (precal):

when they survey land, trig is important. In basketball, the laws of sine is a well known strategy (ask the lakers) when given a triangle, laws of sine and cosine help solve the triangle. Trig is important. Periodic behavior (cycles of the moon, etc)
