Samuel selects one lettered tile at random from a bag that contains one of each letter of the alphabet. What is the probability that he'll select a vowel or a letter in his name? (vowels are A, E, I, O, and U) Please put in fraction form.

OpenStudy (dape):

The total number of letters in the alphabet is 26. Out of this 5 is vowels and the letters S,M and L are in his name not counting the vowels. The total number of "valid" letters is therefore 8 and the probability is \[ \frac{8}{26} = \frac{4}{13} \]
