Tell whether the equation represents a direct variation. If so identify the constant of variation. 2x + 3y = 0

OpenStudy (dape):

Yes it's a direct variation since you can rewrite the equation as \[ y = -\frac{2}{3}x \] The constant of variation is then just \[ k= \frac{2}{3} \]

OpenStudy (dape):

Oops, of course it should also be a minus sign in k.
