how do you factor a binomial

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for ease i like the ac method

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the ac method

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you know the standard form is Ax^2 +Bx +C =0 so find AC then find two numbers that mutiply together to get to AC AND add together to get B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

these numbers musst be the same and the signs are important to watch for. different signs in the binomial meanss you are going to have + and - for the numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

example = f(x) = x^2 + 6 + 9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a = 1 b = 6 c = 9 oops that is f(x) = x^2 + 6x + 9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so ac = 9 and b = 6 same sign in the oriiginal equation so both #s are + 3 and 3 works
