You can use two methods to find the answer First(by using function): Let f(x)=2x^3+3x^2-4x+k Replace x by -2 since (x+2) is a factor of f(x) f(-2)=2(-2)^3+3(-2)^2-4(-2)+k=3 (Since the remainder is 3 when divided by (x+2)) You can work it out Second (by using long division method): Same result but can be quite long I would choose the first method if I were you. ;)
