Well the center of American ideals is the idea of the "American Dream," which itself centers around the idea of opportunity through means of capitalism. Americans spend the majority of their time either producing or consuming, which is to say working at a job which renders a service or spending money, which is to say receiving a service. That is the center of business. It's fairly easy to come up with some examples of working at a job in the business industry, because fairly everything involves business in some facet or another if you consider the trade of services.
