How is fragmentation different from fertilization?

OpenStudy (liliakarina):

Fragmentation or scissiparity is a multiple division produced when the progenitor body divides into two or more parts each of them capable of generating a new organism, This type of asexual reproduction shows in animals, like sea stars (echinoderms) and planarians (worms) among others.

OpenStudy (liliakarina):

On the other hand, fertilization needs a male and female to be possible. The spermatozoon must fecundate the egg, so they form a zygote.
