OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

If you're given an expression that looks like \[(x+a)(y+b)\]Then the FOIL method says you multiply the First elements, the Outer elements, the Inner elements, and the Last elements. So \[(x+a)(y+b)=xy+xb+ay+ab\]

you have two eqautions, you want to multiply, multiply in this order, F first numbers, O outer numbers, I inner numbers, L last numbers
