What is the best Minimalist Linux Distro, Apple/OS/IOS to use for programming I'm particularly intrested in GCC and Objective-C with a hint of intrest in C/C++ I currently am running UNIX 7.1.3 to explore C compilers which I really like but I'm not sure how to get it to use a Ethernet card it seems to be looking for a dial up adapter. I could be wrong though I only have 2-3 hours of using it under my belt.

ArchLinux (aka Archie) is a good minimalist OS. If you are beginning with Unix or GNU/Linux, I would advise you to try out Ubuntu, Mint or Fedora. They are more user friendly, albeit powerful.

I thought Archlinux was different from Archie (archie is based on archlinux; inherits the package manger etc.) https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Arch_Based_Distributions_(Inactive)#Archie

Indeed, agdgdgdgwngo, they are similar, but they are different. Sorry for the mistake. Thanks for catching that :-). So, there are a couple of options for a minimalist OS: Arch Linux, Archie and CRUX.
