What is the best Minimalist Linux Distro, Apple/OS/IOS to use for programming I'm particularly intrested in GCC and Objective-C with a hint of intrest in C/C++ I currently am running UNIX 7.1.3 to explore C compilers which I really like but I'm not sure how to get it to use a Ethernet card it seems to be looking for a dial up adapter. I could be wrong though I only have 2-3 hours of using it under my belt.

If you want minimal, try this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lubuntu All the C-related compilers are there. Apple would also be a good choice, but very expensive.
