logx+log(x+3)=1 what does x=

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\log_{10}x+\log_{10}(x+3)=1 \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

log x ( x+3) = 1 -> x^2 + 3x = 10 -> x^2 + 3x - 10 = 0 -> ( x + 5) ( x -2) = 0 => x = 2 ( discard x = -5 < 0)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

um were did you get the 10 from

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because base 10 -> 10^1 = 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm in hurry!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so whatever the base is you raise that number to whatever it is in the =sign then if that makes sence

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep, it's from the formula!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Log base a of x = y => x = a^y
