Some interesting info, not a question: MITx launched today - I hope to see some other OpenStudy people in it - and in light of some of the recent discussions about the medal system, a review of their 'karma system' for awarding points and 'moderator privileges' is very interesting...

OpenStudy (blues):

In general, users can post discussion questions in the "Wiki" section of the course. Other users can UP VOTE and DOWN VOTE both the questions and the answers. UP votes are given ten points while down votes subtract one point. There is a limit of 200 points which can be given per question or answer per day. As users acquire points, they are granted 'moderation privileges' according to the following schedule: Points Required Action 1 upvote 1 add comments 1 accept own answer to own questions 1 open and close own questions 15 downvote 50 edit community wiki questions 100 retag other's questions 250 close other's questions 2000 edit any answer 2000 delete any comment

Sounds awesome!

OpenStudy (blues):

I think registration is still open. Don't quote me on that, though.

Its been 3 hours only though.

OpenStudy (darthsid):

It's very cool, I'm in the course :)

Too bad I can't join this one :( @blues: Do you know about stackexchange's r 'Reputation system' for awarding points and 'moderator privileges'?

OpenStudy (blues):

No, I have not been on Stack Exchange, although I have heard of it...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then you may like to check it out at here http://math.stackexchange.com/faq#reputation

Great to see MIT taking such an initiative. Wish I could help the folks in the course discussion forums; I'm no EE guru :( Good luck to all :-D
