what is estimating fractions? i dont get it

im studying the exact same thing! That's when you either round up or down (overestimating or underestimating) then you add them together as whole numbers. like 3/4 overestimate to 1 and 5/5 overestimate to 1 and 1+1=2

There might be more than one meaning to the expression. As an example, 1/3 might be estimated to .3 or .33, even though it actually goes on forever. 0.33 is considered a satisfactory estimate of the fraction for quite a few purposes.
