Write an equation of the line containing the specified point and parallel to the indicated line. (−7, 0), 5x + 2y = 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Slope: 2 point (-7,0) Plug these in to y=mx + b to find b. 0 = 2*-7 + b b = 14 Therefore, y=2x +14

OMGoodness! Thanks sooo much. You're the best!!

Does the method make sense to you though?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In any line function, you have two important parts: A slope and a y-intercept. b is the y-intercept because when x is zero, then your y-value is going to be "b."
