What's the difference between flagella and 'pili'?

OpenStudy (mani_jha):

Pili are thread like structures meant for attachment to any surface. They are all over a bacterial cell. But the flagellum is a single large thread like structure, which helps the bacteria move. It cannot help the bacteria attach to any surface. Besides, there are also sex pili used during conjugation. Flagella have no just reproductive functions
