It should be his.(We are talking of only one subject, either Thomas or Paul).
Same for question 17.
21. Question : Identify the choice that best describes the antecedent in the sentence.
My grandmother gave my mother the picture she had painted.

Student Answer: clear

missing

unclear or confusing



Shouldnt this be unclear or confusing? Because we dont know who she refers to, the mother or grandmother
Question 22 is clear.
Question 23 is missing, i guess.
