solve the system . 5x - y = 3 and -10 + 2y = -6. A. ( 0,-3 ) B. ( -3,0 ) C. ( 3,12 ) D. no solution E. many solutions ?

OpenStudy (hoblos):

in te second equation... is it -10 OR -10x ??

OpenStudy (amistre64):

since eq2 is just a multiple of eq1; they both have the same solutions since they are the same lines

OpenStudy (amistre64):

.... assuming -10x of course lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-10x

OpenStudy (amistre64):

|dw:1331053461565:dw|

OpenStudy (amistre64):

since one line is just a stretched version of the other; they are infact the same line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so there are no solutions ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A and C are possible solutions??

OpenStudy (hoblos):

the answer is E... many solutions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes I agree with all the above. If one was to choose from the given choices then yes E is the choice. ( specifically A and C are possible solutions) therefore ho blos may be right E
