How do I do this? On graph paper, graph the function below. In words describe what you see. Use complete sentences. f(x) = - |6x| + 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do you graph it?

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

Yea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What does it look like?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Absolute value of x graphs as a V with vertex at the origin. The absolute value of 6x is similar, but steeper on both the positive and negative side. The negative sign in front of the absolute value turns it upside down, like a mountain with its peak at the origin. The plus two move it up two units.

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

I don't really understand :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Think about graphing it step by step, starting with the basic function (in this case, absolute value of x). Then keep adding elements of the function a little at a time to see what happens to the graph. Read what I wrote above and think about it.
