I need feedback on breaking confidentiality with an HIV positive client if I am a therapist.

With cases of newly diagnosed HIV infection continuing and improvement in treatment allowing longer life for those living with the disease, HIV-positive patients are increasingly commonplace in all aspects of medical practice, including radiology. Although the near hysteria that HIV-positive patients faced at the outset of the epidemic has largely subsided, HIV is still perceived differently than other illnesses, and attention to confidentiality is still ethically and legally required.
