A rope 50 ft long is attached to the top of a flagpole. The rope reaches a place on the ground 20 ft for the base of the pole. Find the height of the flagpole.

I'll help with yours if you help with mine it is 50^2-20^2=2100 and 2100 √2100=45.85
Use the pythagorean theorem: a^2 + b^2 = c^2, where a and b are the sides that make up the right-angle... and c is the hypotenuse (this is ALWAYS true). 20^2 + x^2 = 50^2

400 + x^2 = 2500 x^2 = 2100 x = sqrt(2100) ===> This will be the positive value since there are always two solutions with square roots.
