solve the equation 4(3-x)^(4/3)-5=59

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x= -5 or 11 or 3-8i or 3=8i The key to solving is to let\[k=(3-x)^{2/3}\] That will give you the quadratic equation \[4k ^{2}-64=0\] Solve for k and then plug k back in to where we let \[k=(3-x)^{2/3}\] then solve for x.

Should be 3+8i instead of the = sign.
