Find the y-intercept of the following function: g(x) = - x2 + 6x - 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x^2 + 6x - 9 = 0, solve for x and you're good.

i'm not getting it

Well all you have to do is factor out two equations that equal the first one. It's going to be something like (x + some number) * (x - some number).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait, sorry. The Y incep is going to be the number at the end, so look at the graph of it and you can see how it works. http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=x%5E2+%2B+6x+-+8
