i i need help.......what is the golgi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the golgi apparatus is a membrane bound eukaryotic organelle. This means you won't find it in bacteria but only in eukaryotic cells like animals and fungi. The role the golgi plays in the eukaryotic cell is to process all the proteins that aren't free floating in the cell. This means the golgi processes all of the transmembrane proteins (like the neurotransmitter receptor molecules) and secretory proteins and peptide hormones (like albumin or insulin) produced by the cell. How does the golgi send different proteins different places? it uses sugars like postal addresses. This processes of adding sugars to the proteins is known as glycosylation.
