Viruses and bacteria are more complex organisms than protists. True False

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isn't it false?

OpenStudy (blues):

Yes, I agree. Well done!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Juz comparing bacteria and protist, I will say they are similar..some are more complex than other and some are not blues, and isnt virus kinda more complicated?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And by comparing the size, protist is bigger than the rest ..i think..

OpenStudy (blues):

Technically it depends on what aspect of the bacteria and protist you are talking about: I am sure some specific molecules or specific signalling pathways are more complex in certain kinds of bacteria than in certain kinds of protists. Viruses are very simple. They are basically just a very few genes inside a protein shell - technically, in that they do not carry out metabolic processes on their own, they are not even complex enough to be considered alive. Bacteria are. But in general they are much simpler than all eukaryotes, which includes protists.

ohh okok :D Starting my march break tomorrow, you will see me often in here haha :)
