Sally paid $1.89 for 5 plums. About how many plums would she get for $10?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1.89 ÷ 5 = 0.378 0.378 = Unit Rate 0.378 x 10 = $3.78 ---------------------- $1.89 x 2 = $3.78 ✓

set up a ratio and proportion and then cross multiply 5 plums = $1.89 x plums = $10.00 then cross multiply 5*10 = 50 then divide by 1.89 gives you 26.4 .. you cant buy a fraction of a plum... so answer is 26

@BeatriceM2012 after getting 0.378 as cost per unit price, divide 10 by that number to find out the amount of plums you can get
