Suppose a piece of styrofoam (ps = 180.0 kg/m^3) is held completely submerged in water inside a container that is open and exposed to air. A cord is attached to the geometrical center of the styrofoam. The sloping sides (l=0.200m) are perpendicular to each other and the base (L=0.5000m) is parallel to the horizontal. Use magnitude of acceleration due to gravity, g=9.81m/s^2 and density of water, pw=1000kg/m^3. a.) Draw the free body diagram of the styrofoam. b.) Show that the magnitude of the tension in the cord is T=30.44N. c.) Show that the buoyant force on the styrofoam is Fb=98.10 N.

Yup! Are you still there?
