In a heterogeneous mixture, the ingredient substances are?

OpenStudy (jamesj):

What does heterogeneous mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i looked up on google an it said different in kind; unlike; incongruous. i have no idea. omg!

OpenStudy (jamesj):

Yes, different in kind, not the same. hence the ingredients must be ... what? Also different, not the same.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (jamesj):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont have an answer like that. but whatever i just need help in person id understand it a lot better. but thank u soooo much:)

OpenStudy (jamesj):

ok. In future if you have a multiple choice question, post the options with the question. That way we can help explain the question more clearly.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (jamesj):

The other key characteristic of a heterogeneous mixture, is that the ingredients are not evenly mixed. For example, oil and water. An example of a homogeneous mixture, would be dissolving a teaspoon of salt in a glass of water and thoroughly mixing by stirring the solution.
