Writing 7 Online
OpenStudy (anonymous):

Line 62 has an example of which poetic device in "We Are Seven"?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wellll, what is line 62?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Have found it online. Looks like it's "If they two are in heaven?" Is that the line you're thinking of? Posting it from Bartleby. Ignore all the adverts.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How many are you then," said I, "If they two are in Heaven?"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, both lines . . . boy that's not looking like anything in particular, in terms of strategies or devices, to me. Which devices have you covered in class?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Metaphor Simile Allusion Stanza

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, it's not metaphor or simile. I can't see that it's allusion. You understand why, right? You're clear on those three?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In terms just of language, it's an inversion. You know, rather than "I said, "How many are you then, . . . " And there may be another term for the way the question itself is phrased.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it's stanza

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If those are the only choices . . . and I have just looked this up. The definition is: a grouping of two or more lines of a poem in terms of length, metrical form, or rhyme scheme. That fits. I guess I was thinking of something more particular. That's very basic to poetry.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh thanks thoo.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No prob. Good for me to review this stuff as well. Poetry is not something I know a lot about. But stanza it is. And looks like it's grouped in this case by length and metrical form. Across that stanza to the next, rhyme also comes into play. So, you're good on that one.
